FMCG retail: minus 2.4% in August
The Central Statistical Office (KSH) has reported: like-for-like retail volume sales were up 3.3% in August 2022; adjusted for calendar effects, the sales growth was 2.4%. However, sales of grocery stores decreased by 2.4%, and food stores with a mixed-profile – these realise 75% of grocery retail – produced 3.7% lower volume sales. Food, drink and tobacco specialist shops saw their sales rise 0.3%. Petrol stations performed well, with a 28% sales growth in volume.
