A breakthrough has been made in the fields of leisure sports, adventure sports and active tourism
A breakthrough has been made in the field of leisure sports, adventure sports and active tourism in Hungary, never before have so many resources been available to encourage a healthy lifestyle as now – the State Secretary responsible for an active Hungary emphasized at his press conference in Budapest on Thursday.

The annual review publication entitled Speed Change was presented at the press conference of the State Secretary responsible for an active Hungary, Máriusz Révész, in Budapest, at the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development on March 6, 2025. MTI/Zoltán Kocsis
Máriusz Révész announced that more than 65 billion forints of EU funds will be made available for active tourism developments, and support for active lifestyle and leisure sports programs, as well as infrastructure development, will also increase significantly, with a total of 6.5 billion forints available.
The main goal is to get Hungarians moving, he said, adding that we are currently in a “terrible health state”, and the statistical data on life expectancy or the time spent sick paint a sad picture of Hungary.
Máriusz Révész highlighted that exercise must be made an experience, preferably a community experience, in order to succeed in persuading children, adults and the elderly to adopt an active lifestyle.
Everyone can do something for their own health, he stressed, noting that unprecedented opportunities have opened up for this.
He said that a new opportunity has been created, allowing companies to donate ten percent of their public health product tax to the Active Hungary programs. Last year, this amounted to three billion forints, he added.
