The climate change redraws the wine map
Wine and climate experts believe that due to the climate change the world map of the wine-growing regions will be redrawn. Newer areas are available to grow grapes, while the traditional vineyards are threaten by the rise in temperature and longer droughts
Fernando Zamora, wine researcher of the Spanish Tarragona Rovira i Virgili University is still optimistic: He has no doubt that there will always be traditional wine-growing regions, but new strategies should be introduced, and no doubt there will be new wine regions. “In German winemakers are starting to produce quality wines in places where previously it was very difficult, and some people are also dealing with winemaking in Denmark” – he explained.
