Subway surpasses 30,000 outlets
The sandwich chain has 30,021 in 88 countries. The company said it reached the milestone with the opening of nine outlets all within the same day, including locations in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Sweden and Germany.
Official company spokesman, Les
Winograd, said that nine openings in a day is not atypical for the
chain. Between 1 April and 30 September franchisees opened more than
1,000 outlets, including 256 in July alone. Winograd also commented
that although some franchisees have reported difficulty in obtaining
loans, others are having no problems and growth of the chain is
expected to continue.
