The average amount of personal loans has exceeded the 3 million forint mark
The average amount of personal loans planned by loan applicants has increased by over 50 percent in two years. But what could be behind the drastic increase?
The statistics of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank on loan volumes and interest rates for January 2025 have been published. According to the data, Hungarians signed contracts for personal loans worth 74.03 billion forints in the first month of the year. This is a very strong figure, the volume at the beginning of 2025 exceeded the volume a year earlier by 43.91 percent. (It should be added that a higher monthly volume could also be seen in the summer of 2024.)
According to the statistics, 23,823 contracts were signed in January, which is also a good number, but for example, in July 2024, the number of people who applied for personal loans exceeded 30 thousand.
At the same time, the average loan amount can now be determined based on the loan volume and the number of contracts, which was HUF 3,107,405 in January 2025. This amount has never been this high, which means that those interested are requesting increasingly large personal loans.
