Faster than average growth in sales of insecticides
The market of insecticides expanded by 11 percent in terms of value in the March 2008-February 2009 period, compared to the preceding 12 months, with retail sales exceeding HUF 3.5 billion. Growth in terms of quantity was 7 percent, which was more than the average drop of 6 percent recorded in the 60 chemical categories monitored by Nielsen. Insecticides against flying insects account for 51 percent of total sales in terms of value, while the market share of products for use against crawling insects has decreased by 1 percent to 21 percent. The market share of aerosol products has dropped somewhat, while that of electric products increased slightly. Average price was up by 3.6 percent in the above period. Drugstores accounted for 32 percent of total sales, while hyper markets accounted for 31 percent.
