Slovakian pálinka distillery tourism started to Hungary, because in the Hungarian side of the border spirits can be made more cheaply. Because of the Slovakian tax laws, thousands of illegal distilleries are operating in Hungary’s northern neighbor.
In Slovakia was expected only half of the former distilled amount of pálinka is expected. In several parts of the country raw materials were frozen during the spring, in some areas, fruit harvest is small and of poor quality. In Western Slovakia, plum can save the Pálinka distillers, however, in the South, a new phenomenon reared its head, a lot of Slovaks are visiting the Hungarian pálinka distilleries – reports MR1-Kossuth Rádió.
