According to the health economist, the market for tobacco products has changed
The total turnover of tobacco products per thread has barely changed in four years, this year’s consumption even increased compared to the previous year’s data, and all of this is primarily related to the strong expansion of new types of products, which is also characteristic of Hungary – this is the conclusion reached by researchers in Hungary. Along the topic, Portfolio interviewed two specialists.

Tax policy and various prohibition measures are not sufficient to reduce smoking
Tamás Joó, a health economist, and Melinda Pénzes, a specialist in preventive medicine and public health – who are both assistant professors at Semmelweis University’s Health Management Training Center – spoke to Portfolio about the latest tobacco market and consumption trends, such as Elf bars, heated products and the reasons for their popularity, as well as the tax advantage of new types of products. There was also talk about why the authorities are just running after the industry, what the most important goal would be to reduce smoking, and who can do what for that.
