The awards for this year’s organic wine competition were presented in Debrecen

Wine academician Pál Kovács, the main organizer of the competition, recalled that the first organic wine competition was held in 2007 in Hortobágy, and since then the number of participating wineries has been continuously increasing.

This time, the jury’s work was extremely difficult, as this year’s organic wines were of exceptionally high quality: 36 percent of the total wine volume received a gold rating in the white, red and sweet categories – the expert added.

He announced that the Champion Award for the best wine in the white wine category went to Dobosi Birtok Bio 14.47 Olaszrizling 2023, and the Schibeber Borászat Bio Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 in the red wine category.

The wineries that received the Champion Award can represent Hungary in 2026 in Nuremberg, at the prestigious MUNDUS VINI competition. The winners will qualify for the world’s largest organic wine competition with the support of Biokontroll Hungária Nonprofit Kft.

It was announced at the award ceremony that the goal of the national organic wine competition – in addition to strengthening professional relationships – has been unbroken for 17 years: to support the popularization of organic wines. The values ​​that can be associated with organic wines, environmental protection, sustainability and conscious wine consumption are becoming increasingly important for more and more people.
