The new sow farm of the Hunland Group was handed over
The “fire-hardened alliance” of farmers and the government and the support of young farmers remain; there will be a support for start-up farmers with 40 thousand euros and a support for working start-up farms with a maximum support of one million euros – István Nagy said on Friday in Bugyin.
The Minister of Agriculture explained at the handover of the sow farm of the Hunland Group: the development of agriculture in recent years is shown by the fact that between 2010 and 2021, territorial productivity, the added value per hectare, increased by more than 2.5 times. He added that this is the second best result in the European Union after Ireland. The minister called it a great achievement of Hungarian agriculture that, despite the difficulties of recent years, it was able to ensure the supply of high-quality, safe food to the population. Farmers know that they can count on the government in all circumstances, which can provide them with adequate development resources through agricultural and rural development subsidies, he said. He added that 351,000 supporter decisions were made on the use of the funds, and HUF 3,400 billion in support was decided for the beneficiaries, of which HUF 1,870 billion has already been paid out. Within this, 3,897 beneficiaries in the animal breeding sector have so far received HUF 568 billion in subsidies, the minister added. István Nagy stated that for the Hungarian government, agriculture remains a national strategic sector, therefore the development of producer cooperation is also important in the new cycle of agricultural subsidies. He added that farmers’ bargaining position increases through producer cooperation.
Jos Janssen, the owner of the Hunland Group, said that the Hungarian government contributed a non-refundable subsidy of HUF 2 billion to the HUF 7.5 billion investment cost of their new sow farm. According to publicly available company data, Hunland-Farm Kft. closed the 2022 business year with HUF 4.7 billion in net sales and HUF 1.6 billion in taxable profit. In 2021, net sales amounted to HUF 2.6 billion, and the profit after tax amounted to HUF 600 million.
