ALDI North acquires companies of the Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen Group
ALDI Nord has acquired Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen together with its production plants in Treuchtlingen and Breuna. The agreement was signed late on the evening of 9 November.
The Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen Group is one of Germany’s leading producers and bottlers of mineral water and non-alcoholic beverages. The group employs around 400 people at its sites in Treuchtlingen (Bavaria) and Breuna (Hessen).
As the new owner, ALDI Nord intends to further invest in modern sites and expand the production and bottling of mineral water and other beverages. “The Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen group has been one of our most important suppliers of mineral water and soft drinks for many years. Accordingly, we were impressed by the range of products offered by the family business in an overall tight market,” said Jürgen Schwall, ALDI North Group Purchasing Director.
With this acquisition, ALDI North is also strengthening its role as a reliable supplier of raw materials. “The acquisition of the companies with production facilities in Treuchtlingen and Breuna gives us the opportunity to maintain production capacities for one of Germany’s most important food products in the long term. This will allow us to continue to offer our customers high-quality mineral water at the best possible prices,” says Schwall.
The continuation of the business will also secure jobs for administrative and production staff at the two sites in Treuchtlingen and Breuna. The closing is subject to the usual approval by the Federal Cartel Office and is expected to take place early next year. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
