Supermarket chains in the fuel market
The petrol stations with names of the supermarket chains are interesting participants of the European and Hungarian fuel market. Some believe that, it would be a solution against the ever increasing petrol prices – however, the practice does not show this.
In January, the German Minister for Economic Affairs said that they would like, if the discount-store chains such as Aldi and Lidl would appear in the German fuel market. The minister expects that the appereance of the retail chains would generate a stronger competition, which would lead to lower prices. In Hungary this process, started five years ago, but serious price decline did not occur at national level of the fuel sales – reports portfolio.hu.
