World coffee market before price explosion
The bad climate in Colombia, and the increase of the middle class in China threatens the world coffee market. Although, due to the crisism coffee has now become even cheaper, in the near future the price of coffee may break records.
Declining harvests and rising demand threatens the coffee market, and it is much more difficult to prevent the harmful effects of global warming, which resulted in the worst yield of the past 33 years in Colombia. The world's second largest coffee exporter produced 12 million bags of coffee beans in 2006, but only 9 million this year – reports Index, after Bloomberg.
