The price swing of lemon
We might think that lemon prices are relatively balanced among the tropical fruits, but during the year, it may vary with even fifty percent in value. Last year, the average price per kilo was between 515 HUF and 878 HUF. The price swings probably continue because the supply is changing.
In Hungary, the vast majority of the lemon is delivered from Spain, Turkey and Argentina. According to the data of the KSH, the Hungarian lemon imports increased by 24 percent to 12.7 thousand tonnes, while the imports of lime increased by 56 percent to 526.7 tonnes in the first ten months of 2015, compared to the same period last year.
