A price increase is necessary on the domestic egg market for sustainable production
The price of eggs on the domestic market should rise from autumn, as egg production has become unsustainable due to the price reductions of recent months, warns the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers. Due to the current low producer and packing house prices, the producers were in a difficult situation and the continuation of production was in danger.
The situation of egg producers is further worsened by the fact that despite the fact that the government repealed the decrees regulating pricing, consumer prices did not increase. Fluctuations in prices are harmful to the domestic egg sector in the long term, so it would be necessary to establish long-term agreements between producers and traders that would ensure price stability and the balance of domestic production.
The Association emphasizes that price increases are inevitable in order to ensure the sustainability of egg production, especially since in the next period, producers will also have to face an increase in feed purchase costs due to extreme weather.
