Food prices grew further in April
Consumer prices were 2.4 percent higher in April 2020 than in April 2019. Food prices grew by 8.7 percent. Pork’s price augmented the most, by 28.9 percent. The price of sugar increased by 14.1 percent. Seasonal product prices (potatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables) grew by 15.1 percent. Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices were up 7.2 percent. In comparison with March 2020 consumer prices rose 0.6 percent, but food prices increased more than the usual, by 1.4 percent – in part due to the increased demand generated by the coronavirus pandemic. //
