Annual inflation in the Eurozone accelerated in April
In April, inflation accelerated in the euro area on an annual basis, the statistical office of the European Union announced on Tuesday.
According to Eurostat’s preliminary data, inflation rose to 7.0 percent in April from 6.9 percent in March. The average of analysts’ expectations was 7.0 percent for April.
In the euro area, consumer prices increased by 0.7 percent in April compared to March, when a larger increase of 0.9 percent was recorded.
Energy prices increased by 2.5 percent compared to last April, while in March the annual decrease was 0.9 percent. The increase in the price of services accelerated to 5.2 percent in April from 5.1 percent in the previous month.
