Retail sales in Romania increased by 0.4 percent in April year-on-year
According to raw data, retail sales in Romania increased by 0.4 percent in April compared to the previous year, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Friday.
According to calendar-adjusted data, retail sales in April exceeded the value of the previous year by 3.1 percent. This is the lowest value in the past 13 months, compared to 9.3 percent a year earlier.
According to raw data, sales from the distribution of food, beverages and tobacco products stagnated, while non-food products and fuels grew by 0.8 and 0.4 percent, respectively.
According to calendar-adjusted data, retail sales in the food sector decreased by 0.7 percent, while non-food products and fuels grew by 6.7 and 2.8 percent, respectively.
Compared to March, retail sales in Romania increased by 1.7 percent according to raw data and by 0.4 percent according to calendar and seasonally adjusted data.
In the first four months of the year, retail sales increased by 2.7 percent according to raw data and by 3.8 percent according to calendar adjusted data compared to the same period in 2024.
