Lidl to open three outlets in Malta
The supermarkets are situated in Santa Venera, San Gwann and Luqa, and have a sales area of 1,000 sqm. The investment was 14 million euros.
Lidl Malta will be collaborating closely with Lidl Italia,
which will also be supplying goods through its modern distribution
centre in Rome, thus exploiting the synergies of the Group in the
field of supply chain management and logistics.
The product
range will be made up of approximately 1100 items most of which
are exclusively everyday products. The range includes fresh meat,
fresh fruit and vegetables, chilled and frozen food as well as a
variety of cleaning and personal care products. The product range
will be similar to the range available in Italy, but it will also
be supplemented by a number of products produced in Malta as well
as products arriving from Lidl UK and other European countries.
The company shall also be introducing a number of products
that carry the “Fair Trade” label, which represents an
initiative aimed at developing decent working conditions,
sustainability and fair trade terms for farmers and workers in
developing countries as well as the “Marine Stewardship Council
(MSC)” sign, which represents an initiative aimed to enhance
responsible management of seafood resources.
