A new Hungarian mobile application, AppLyfe, simplifies household inventory management and shopping organization. The app is available in a freemium model, so anyone can try it out for free. The developers aim to follow the domestic launch with a multilingual, international market entry.

AppLyfe addresses the problem that keeping track of household inventory and organizing shopping puts a lot of mental strain on people, especially families with young children. According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, in Europe we spend nearly two hours a day doing housework, and a significant part of this is organizing everyday logistics. The app organizes and alerts the user when inventory is running low and products are about to expire, thus reducing waste and making decisions easier.

The sustainability aspect cannot be neglected either: in Hungary, an average person produces approximately 62 kg of food waste per year, almost half of which could be avoided. AppLyfe alerts you to items approaching their expiration date, reducing the amount of food thrown away and saving households tens of thousands of forints per month.

The user experience is also enhanced by the fact that household management has been given community features: a shared inventory and shopping list provides the same information to all family members or roommates. This avoids double-purchased products or misunderstandings. The app offers simple profile and permission management, and push notifications are sent to all registered users.

The first version is available on Android and iOS, and will be expanded with a recipe recommendation and additional retail and sustainability integrations in the near future.

“AppLyfe brings order to invisible housework: it takes the burden of keeping it in mind, giving us time and peace of mind to focus on the truly important moments,”

– said founder Noémi Kötő.
