In one week, a foreign fashion event, festival work and unexpected everyday expenses put the participants of K&H’s eternally active campaign to a serious test. The latest series of events in the “survive on retirement” challenge showed that it is not big spending, but small everyday expenses that pose a real threat to the wallet.

K&H’s eternally active challenge had new twists in store, in which well-known content creators undertook to try to cover their expenses exclusively from the average pension of HUF 224,000 forints for a month. According to the latest reports, unexpected events in everyday life put the participants to a serious test.

One of the biggest challenges was a trip abroad. The participant had the opportunity to participate in an international fashion event in Copenhagen, where he was invited as part of a campaign. Although travel, accommodation and some meals were provided, the small costs of everyday life also arose: a bicycle rental was required for transportation, and of course, a few small gifts had to be brought home so that he wouldn’t return empty-handed. However, Danish prices quickly drained his limited budget.

Sudden change

However, the real test began after returning home, as the road from the airport led straight to the Sziget Festival construction site, where he worked several hours a day in the official stream team, so he didn’t have time to cook at home every day. Therefore, it happened several times that he had to eat at the festival site or in the surrounding area – which meant serious spending.

Another extra expense was that in order to get to the festival site, he had to buy a public transport pass, which reduced his monthly budget by almost ten thousand forints. Although he tried to prioritize public transportation, there were days when he was forced to take a taxi due to congestion, and once he even had to rent an electric scooter to get home on time and rest up for the next workday.
