What finally ends up on the table: what do Hungarian children eat?
Mona Hungary Kft., the distributor of the Montice brand, conducted a representative survey in the summer of 2011 about the dairy product consumption of primary school pupils.
From the answers of mothers in the 25-49 age group, who have children between the ages of 6 and 15, it was revealed that 82 percent of children have breakfast at home and 5 percent does not have breakfast at all. The majority of them eat some bakery product or sandwich but many of them have some kind of dairy product. 78 percent of children have chocolate every week, 65 percent eat ice cream and 61 percent have soft drinks weekly. Children in the 6-15 age group consume dairy products the most often, 79 percent do it every day. 55 percent eats meat and cold cuts every day and 55 percent have fruits or vegetables daily. Parents’ opinion was that milk consumption is the most important for children in the 6-15 age group: 50 percent of them said it is a must for children to eat dairy products.
