The State Secretary explained that in addition to curbing the foot-and-mouth disease virus in Hungary, special attention should also be paid to the prevention of animal diseases. He highlighted that the government’s goal is to create the necessary conditions for the long-term safe operation of livestock farms while maintaining effective protection. The Ministry of Agriculture has therefore announced a new call for applications for cattle, sheep and goat farmers with farms that are most affected by infection risks and that can be most effectively protected with developments.
The aim of the call for applications entitled Development of disease control systems for cattle, sheep and goat farms is to prevent infectious diseases and reduce the risk of disease spread and introduction. The non-refundable support available through the call will help in the implementation of disease control investments.
József Viski said that farmers who meet the specified eligibility conditions in terms of farm size and sales revenue can apply for the support. The developments can be implemented with a special support intensity of 70 percent. He also emphasized that, keeping in mind the interests of farmers, the support will be available for the purchase of equipment and machinery before the announcement of the call, but no earlier than January 1, 2025.
