AM: Hungarian-Bavarian agricultural relations at the threshold of a new beginning

The ministers agreed that the Common Agricultural Policy should be maintained as an independent instrument based on two separate pillars after 2027, and that the bureaucratic support structure should be reduced as much as possible in the interests of farmers, they wrote.

István Nagy highlighted that not only bilateral but also regional cooperation is necessary on many issues, since the states neighboring Bavaria and Hungary are also facing similar challenges, to which truly effective responses can be provided together, the statement said.

The meeting also discussed the fact that Hungary will lift the epidemiological restrictions from May 15, so that Hungarian products can again reach Europe, including Bavaria, without obstacles, they added. István Nagy drew attention to the fact that it is of paramount importance that a separate and adequate budget for agriculture be maintained during the next EU term. Both the Hungarian and Bavarian sides agreed that the Common Agricultural Policy should be farmer-centric and that in the interests of European food security, the already ambitious sustainability goals should not be further increased – AM reported.
