According to the decision of the Hungarikum Committee, two new values have been added to the Hungarikum Collection, the Hungarian saddle and the Conductive Pedagogy System based on the Pető method – announced István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, according to the ministry’s information on Monday.

The conductive pedagogical method founded by the doctor-specialist András Pető, which was built up and used by Hungarian professionals worldwide to this day, has been added to the Hungarikum Collection.

A conductor qualification can only be obtained in Hungary, it is part of the public education and public health, so those in need can use the service within the framework of the state social system, with support. The Hungarian government has also made the service available to Hungarians abroad since 2014 – AM reported.

The Hungarian saddle of the eastern type, which was also effectively used by the light cavalry in the battles against the Turks, has also become a Hungarian item. After settling in the Carpathian Basin, it underwent a certain development, and its Tiszafüred version was an object of appreciation in the everyday life of our peasantry and on festive occasions, they explained.

The Hungarian Heritage Archive has been expanded with the Hungarian Cake competition, which, according to the announcement, has been organized by the Hungarian Confectionery Association for the 18th year. The cake, made from traditionally Hungarian ingredients, is presented by confectioners across the country on the day of our state’s founding, August 20th of each year.

The Bükk prehistoric cave has also been added to the Hungarian Heritage Archive, its archaeological finds testifying to the decisive presence of innovative humans in the Bükk region since prehistoric times. It stood out in prehistoric times with its industry, representing an independent culture with its technique of making bay leaf-shaped stone tools.

A botanical garden has also been included in the Hungarian Heritage List, and the Szarvas Arboretum, established in the 1800s, with its 82 hectares, is the country’s largest dendrological collection, the guardian of the Hungarian plant genetic wealth, and a garden of national nature conservation significance. Here is the old mountain sequoia pine, unique in Hungary and considered the symbol of the garden.

The Old Hungarian grape varieties have also been included in the Heritage List, their significance in Hungarian wine culture is unquestionable. According to the AM’s announcement, we have more than a hundred old local varieties, but only 10-15 of them have survived in cultivation at a significant level. Most of our better-known old grape varieties are only found on a few dozen hectares, and most of the less common ones are only found in variety collections.

With the decision of the Hungarikum Committee, the number of items in the Hungarikum Collection has increased to 98, and we now have 162 outstanding national values in the Hungarian Valuables Archive – the AM announced.
