AM: the government continues to support food industry developments
Part of the government’s priority strategy is the modernization and strengthening of the competitiveness of the domestic food industry. The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) is once again making available the call to support these goals as part of the new agricultural support system launched in 2023. The current call for proposals has a budget of 20 billion forints, which will open up support opportunities of up to 100 million forints for the affected businesses, announced István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, on his Facebook page on Sunday.
According to the ministry, the minister emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to encouraging the production of higher value-added products, as this is not only a basic condition for strengthening competitiveness, but also for ensuring food sovereignty.
The aim of the call announced within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy is to support the value addition of agricultural products and the improvement of corporate efficiency. Within this framework, the construction, development and modernization of buildings related to the infrastructure serving the operation of plants, the purchase of new machinery, equipment and technologies, and investments aimed at improving energy efficiency can be implemented, among other things. Applications for support will be open between November 27 and December 10, 2025 – the minister explained.
Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture announced two calls for proposals for the development of the domestic food industry, providing separate support opportunities for the implementation of smaller and larger investments. In the case of popular applications, support decisions have already been made in several rounds, and the ministry has ensured by reallocating resources that as many stakeholders as possible have access to the necessary resources.
The processing of applications and the payment of advances is continuously accelerating: so far, support decisions have been made for 824 projects, worth a total of 382 billion forints.
“Now, with another call, we want to encourage the actors of the Hungarian agricultural sector to implement their plans and investments” – added István Nagy.
