AM: Thailand would only restrict imports of poultry from the infected area if there would be an epidemic in Hungary
In case of a possible outbreak of avian influenza, Thailand would not restrict the import of poultry products from the whole of Hungary, but “only” from the affected area – according to the agreement signed by the two countries – the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) told MTI on Monday.
The Ministry of Agriculture (AM) announced that the application of the principle of regionalization was initiated by Bognár Lajos, national chief veterinarian, at the Thai authorities following the 2016/2017 Hungarian bird flu epidemic.
With the agreement, Thailand now recognizes the guarantees provided by the Hungarian Veterinary Service, so in case of a possible epidemic, Hungarian poultry enterprises interested in Thai exports can benefit, compared to their European competitors – they wrote. (MTI)
