AM: this year’s wheat crop could be about 4.7 million tons

About 4.7 million tons of winter wheat were produced this year, domestic consumption is usually 2.5-3 million tons, so there is plenty remained to be exported – the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) said at a press conference after the Harvest Coordination Committee meeting on Thursday in Budapest.

Tarpataki Tamás stated that the summer harvesting works have practically been completed, it is estimated that the summer grain harvest will be about 7.5 million tons.

According to the data of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), the harvest of winter wheat is 97% ready, the sown area of this crop is nearly 900 thousand hectares this year, and the average yield is 5.28 tons per hectare. (MTI)
