AM: We are building a modern horticultural industry
In the KAP Strategic Plan, we continue to maintain priority support for the horticulture sector, so ornamental gardeners can also count on development resources – announced Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the Symbiosis Gardening Meeting in Siófok on Tuesday.
The head of the ministry said that in the 2023-2027 period, the possibility to maintain all the measures applied in the previous period based on the Rural Development Program will remain, and a new form of support specially adapted to the sectoral opportunity will also be available.
István Nagy explained that the “Support for small businesses in the ornamental gardening sector” application was specifically adapted to the needs of the ornamental gardening sector
Thus, the support options cover activities related to trade in ornamental plants or green space management. You can apply for, for example, the creation, development and modernization of buildings. The purchase of new machines and tools and technologies related to ornamental plant trade and green space management, and the modernization of existing machines and tools, including information and communication technologies, can be supported. In addition, the construction of greenhouses, foil houses, cold houses, the purchase of machines and post-harvest technologies, and the planting of plantations will all be available for horticulture, naturally in a subsidized way, emphasized the minister. The head of the ministry also touched on the fact that, based on the intervention entitled “Supporting green investments of agricultural enterprises”, it will be possible to modernize and renovate building energy, building machinery and energy supply, and especially the more intensive use of renewable energy sources. He added that in the horticulture sector, we consider encouraging the generational change to be a priority, which is why the start-up support for young agricultural producers continues. In addition to all of this, he touched on the need for producer cooperation, which also affects this sector, since reducing imports and increasing exports is necessary to create a predictable and competitive sector. And all of this is possible in a well-organized and integrated way – the minister concluded his presentation.
