The government’s priority goal is to compensate affected farmers after stopping the foot-and-mouth disease virus and encourage them to strive to replace livestock forced to be killed due to the disease and to continue their livestock farming activities. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture will create rules for subsidies related to the resettlement of farmers’ livestock and the epidemiological development of livestock farms – the announcement says.
In addition to compensation, the support scheme will also include additional elements
In order to avoid infections, a non-refundable grant of up to HUF 50 million can be requested for the development of disease control on farms. The draft, which is under social consultation, also includes a heifer rearing subsidy. The state will also assume the salaries of employees employed on the affected farms thanks to the Wage Guarantee Fund. The Agrár Széchenyi Kártya loan program also provides targeted financial assistance to livestock keepers affected by the epidemic situation – AM wrote.
