AM: support for suckler cow farmers will arrive earlier this year
The government is taking another step to help livestock farmers who have found themselves in a difficult situation due to the direct or indirect effects of the foot-and-mouth disease virus. Compared to previous years, the payments for the suckler cow farming support title for 2024 have been scheduled earlier, so the Hungarian State Treasury will start disbursing them in April – informed József Viski, State Secretary responsible for agricultural and rural development support at the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), according to the ministry’s statement on Wednesday.

József Viski highlighted that the government is committed to supporting agriculture, as shown by the acceleration of support decisions and the payment of application funds. These will simultaneously enable farmers to maintain their solvency and strengthen the competitiveness of agriculture – they wrote.
The Hungarian State Treasury will start disbursing partial payments to almost 6,000 applicants, totaling more than 9 billion forints
The first installment of the payment will be 151 euros per suckler cow, or nearly 60,000 forints. After processing the results of the inspections affecting the title, the remaining amounts will be transferred in May – added József Viski. According to him, in the coming days, beef cow keepers will also receive the majority of the suckler cow support requested in 2024. Dairy cow keepers, bull fatteners and sheep keepers have already received the majority of the EU support requested under the production-related title submitted within the framework of the single application. In addition to the production-related support financed from EU funds, the payment of the temporary national support financed from the national budget may also begin soon – says the announcement.
