József Viski recalled that after the 80 billion forints paid in the first year of the program, the amount provided to farmers under this support was increased to 94 billion this year, in the second year. Within the framework of the Agro-ecological Program, in addition to the basic subsidies, farmers can receive additional support if they make specific environmental and other commitments, which protect the soil and reduce the effects of climate change. There is great interest from farmers, the program is applied on 80 percent of the cultivated areas – indicated the State Secretary.
József Viski also mentioned that the payment of agricultural subsidies requested under the 2024 Single Application is on schedule
The largest part of these – approximately 733 billion forints – has already been allocated to farmers. This is the largest and most significant agricultural subsidy that Hungary provides to producers from the Common Agricultural Policy and national subsidies – he emphasized. Regarding investment subsidies, the State Secretary said: these provide opportunities for the implementation of developments in the animal husbandry, horticulture, arable land and food industry sectors. The ministry expects that approximately 1,500 billion forints of non-refundable subsidies and interest subsidies will be allocated this year.
The evaluation of smaller food industry applications has already begun, and the decision on larger food industry applications will be made in two to three weeks
The decision-making process for the horticultural greenhouse and cold storage call will also begin in July, then for smaller livestock farmers, and from autumn for larger livestock farmers. The goal is to make all support decisions this year – said József Viski.
