AM State Secretary: the agricultural support encouraging the transition to precision will continue
The agricultural support that encourages the transition to precision will continue in the next funding cycle, which lasts until 2027, said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) responsible for agriculture and rural development at the Hungexpo event on Wednesday, at the press conference of the AGROMashEXPO agricultural machinery exhibition in Budapest.
Zsolt Feldman announced that even more small producers will be able to use the tender opportunity than before. The tender grants available since 2021 have contributed or are contributing to the procurement of precision machinery, equipment and services worth almost HUF 400 billion.
Even without price increases, the value of all agricultural investments increased by almost 23 percent compared to the same period last year.
Compared to 2010, the productivity of Hungarian agriculture increased from 41 percent to 67 percent compared to the EU average, he said. The state secretary also talked about the tools to encourage generational renewal, including the start-up support for young farmers and the tender to facilitate the transfer of family farms. The transformation has begun, and the results of the generational change are visible not only in farming families, but also those who come from non-farming families can get involved in agriculture and production-related activities – emphasized Zsolt Feldman. The president of the National Association of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Distributors also believes that Hungarian agriculture is doing well in terms of development, and this year’s data on machinery investments may even cause a serious surprise, according to him. The change in technology indicates a good direction, but development cannot stop, one of the big tasks of the next years will be water conservation – stressed Zsolt Harsányi.
The vice-rector for education and international affairs of the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Food Sciences highlighted the importance of expertise at the event.
According to István Szabó, the range of agricultural machinery manufacturers is developing at a rapid pace, so their handling also requires more and more serious preparation. Based on the experience of recent years, another important requirement of agriculture is adaptation, the competitiveness of production cannot be maintained without it, he added.
AGROmashEXPO awaits visitors between January 25 and 28. Among the almost 300 exhibitors, there will also be many companies that will be participating in the event for the first time – informed Krisztina Szilvási, commercial director of Hungexpo.
