In Coop’s corporate philosophy, social responsibility and commitment to the community are always given a high priority, in addition to the high quality of its food. In this spirit, the Coop Rally, which promotes Hungarian products, is being organized for the 19th time, and 71 companies have joined this year. “The program not only serves to promote domestic products, but also contributes to the livelihood of Hungarian farmers and families,” said András Tállai, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), at this year’s Coop Rally press conference, according to the ministry’s statement.

He emphasized that consumers love and seek out Hungarian products, which is not only a recognition of quality, but also strengthens the competitiveness of the food chain players. The Ministry of Agriculture’s goal is for the domestic agriculture and food industry to serve Hungarian families at the safest and highest level.

The strategy, based on the “chain approach”, – in line with the EU “Farm to Fork” concept – connects agriculture, the food industry and trade, prioritizing domestic producers and direct contact with consumers – they wrote.

The performance of the food industry is continuously strengthening: the sales revenue of the last closed year amounted to nearly 7 thousand billion forints, which represented a 6.5 percent increase compared to the previous period. Domestic sales increased by 7 percent and exports by 5 percent.

“The trend is encouraging, as the proportion of quality Hungarian products is increasing and is increasingly prominent in both domestic and foreign market demand”

– added András Tállai, according to the statement.

Significant subsidies contributed to the development of the food industry: more than 1,300 food processing plants received more than 300 billion forints under the Rural Development Program. By August 31, 2025, 741 applications had been received for the so-called annual calls and positive decisions had already been made regarding developments worth more than HUF 275 billion.
