Allianz: 6 out of 10 electric cars are owned by the company
The demand for electric vehicles is constantly growing in Hungary – according to the latest statistics of the Ministry of the Interior, 82,277 cars with green license plates are driving on Hungarian roads. In parallel with the number of e-cars, the demand for insurance tailored to them also increases. One year ago, Allianz introduced its insurance coverage tailored to electric vehicles, on the occasion of which it collected the statistics and experiences of the past year.
Starting in November, the government will support the spread of electric cars with a new development program, within the framework of which HUF 60 billion will be allocated to the development of the charging network and support for vehicle purchases. Based on data from Datahouse, the majority of cars put on the market are still diesel or gasoline-powered, the share of hybrid cars increased by about 1.5 percent, while the share of electric vehicles increased by 0.5 percent in the past year. And in October of this year, nearly 25 percent more electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles were put on the market compared to the same period of the previous year. Among the manufacturers, last year BMW led the list, but this year it already shares the top spot with Tesla and Mercedes.
