German dairy farmers receive government assistance
Dairy farmers receive at least 100 million euros (about 31 billion HUF) state aid package in Germany – was announced in Berlin.
According to the Ministry, the number of dairy farms is continuously reduced – almost halved. In 2000 their number was 139 thousand, now it is only 73 thousand, but Germany is still the largest milk producer in the EU, with a more than 20 percent share. (MTI)
