Alensa: Leading the Central European market with new stores and cutting-edge technology
One of Europe’s largest optical retailers, Alensa, is dynamically expanding its network: in the first half of the year, it will open nearly ten new physical stores in four Central European countries. At the same time, it is also strengthening its position in Hungary, where it recently opened its fourth showroom in Kecskemét. All this is happening at a time when, according to global trends, more and more people need glasses or other vision correction devices.
Alensa, with Czech-Slovak roots, began its journey in 2005 as an online contact lens retailer. It has now grown to become one of the largest online optical companies in Europe, operating more than 40 online stores in the 27 EU Member States, as well as in the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates.
The importance of physical stores is demonstrated by the fact that last year they recorded a sales increase of more than 97%. “The expansion of the store network is a clear response to the growing demand of our customers: they want to contact us personally, seek professional advice and try on products on site,” said Ján Jacina, Director of the Alensa Optical Network. He adds that while online sales remain a strong pillar, physical stores are key to further growth, providing the choice between personal and convenient online shopping.
The Hungarian network and expertise
Currently, there are four Alensa showrooms in Hungary: in Budapest, Győr, Pécs, and the newest location in Kecskemét. In addition, there are three franchise partners in Dunaharaszti, Veszprém, and Nyíregyháza. The newest store in Kecskemét opened in the city center, on Kossuth Square, in an easily accessible, busy location.
“We guarantee the same full-range optical service in all our stores: vision testing with the most modern equipment, contact lens fitting and control, and eye pressure measurement. Qualified optometrists and opticians are at the disposal of customers, and we welcome them with a huge selection at every location,”
– emphasized Róbert Tóth, Alensa’s manager for the Hungarian market.
