Aldi: another major American expansion is coming – store openings, logistics and delivery

The expansion is also accompanied by the establishment of new distribution centers, the renewal of the online interface, and the expansion of delivery options – the latter through partners such as Instacart, DoorDash or Uber Eats.

The company aims to operate 3,200 stores in the US by 2028, for which it has ordered a five-year, $9 billion investment program. The announcement comes as Aldi says American consumers are increasingly looking for better value solutions: there is a growing trend towards discounters, especially for affordable products and private labels. According to the chain, 17 million new customers visited its stores last year, and one in three American households shopped at Aldi last year.

In the statement, Atty McGrath, head of the US business, said: In 2026, they will focus on making it even easier for customers to choose Aldi “first.” Aldi is now among the latest European retailers to accelerate spectacularly in the US market.
