Aldi Ireland to trial fully recycled fresh produce bags
Aldi Ireland announced plans to trial reusable fresh produce bags made from 100% recycled plastic bottles at 10 of its stores across the country.
Shoppers will have the option to purchase the reusable bags for €0.49 per bag. According to the retailer, the reusable bags will be displayed in store using a dedicated stand, which is also 100% recyclable and made from 30% recycled material. These cardboard stands will be placed next to the produce section, making it easier for customers to see when shopping in the fresh fruit and vegetable aisles.
Following the four-week trial, Aldi hopes to roll out the initiative across all its 142 Irish stores.
