Aldi opens £64m East Midlands distribution centre
Aldi has just opened its newest and largest distribution centre in Sawley, Derbyshire, supplying over 80 stores and providing jobs for more 400 local residents.
The £64 million site, which spans over 600,000sq ft, is Aldi’s 11th UK distribution centre and will serve the German grocer’s growing customer base across the East Midlands.
The facility is part of Aldi’s planned £1 billion investment in new stores, store upgrades and improving its distribution capabilities.
Aldi, which now operates more than 850 stores across the UK, said it attracted 1 million new customers last year.
The German discounter also extends its store openings target to 1200 stores across the UK by the end of 2025.
