ALDI: low prices, new products and more workers recruited
In 2017 the number of Hungarian ALDI stores grew to 129. Shoppers can now choose from approximately 1,800 products in ALDI discount supermarkets. The majority of fresh fruits and vegetables are supplied by Hungarian farmers, there are in-store bakeries and those suffering from food intolerance can choose from about 100 ‘Enjoy Free’ private label products – informed ALDI Hungary managing director Bernhard Haider.
Last year ALDI surprised customers with exciting new services: ALDI Travel was launched in September 2017, selling the products of Eurotours International in Hungary at www.aldi-utazas.hu. From 2018 ALDI Hungary is also selling motor fuels at reduced prices, at unmanned filling stations in the parking lots of several stores. Also this year ALDI Hungary bought Alföldi Tej Kft.’s dairy product brand, ‘Kokárdás’. The dairy company created the Kokárdás brand – dairy products sold exclusively in ALDI stores – in 2015; these products are made in Hungary from Hungarian milk.
Meanwhile ALDI Hungary is creating many new jobs too: they are recruiting workers for more than 150 new positions in 38 job categories, for instance in sales, administration, IT and marketing. ALDI is celebrating 10 years in Hungary this year and their policy won’t change in the future either: selling high quality products at low prices. From 2017 ALDI uses green electricity in all of their Hungarian facilities. The green electricity comes from renewable sources. This step reduces the retailer’s CO2 emission by 12,000 tons. (x)
