Active tourism development begins in the Mura region
The South Zala Regional Development Association has won a non-refundable 692 million forints of European Union funding for the implementation of the project entitled “Development of Active Tourism in the Mura Region”, which aims to develop the region’s active tourism network and the sustainable tourism utilization of its natural assets – the association told MTI.
The development is being implemented within the framework of the Széchenyi Plan Plusz program, with the support of the call entitled “Development of Active Tourism”. The investment started in July 2025 and is planned to be implemented by June 30, 2028.
Announced: Infrastructures and services that connect walking, cycling and water tourism will be created in several settlements of Zala County – including Eszteregnye, Muraszemenye, Tótszentmárton, Tótszerdahely, Fityeháza and Molnári. The developments include the creation of rest areas, entry and exit points, guest reception areas, parking lots, bicycle racks, and information and service points.
An important element of the project is the creation of the Mura Guide mobile application, which, in connection with the Mura national program, makes the tourist offer of about 80 settlements available to visitors. The aim of the developments is to offer new tourist routes and experiences by connecting the known sights and natural values of the region, thereby strengthening the economic and tourist attractiveness of the region. All this will contribute to the sustainable development of the region and the strengthening of local services in the long term, they announced.
