Active Hungary State Secretariat: more than 600 adventure sports events in the 2025 calendar
This year, the State Secretariat for Active Hungary is providing support for more than 600 adventure sports events. The program helps sports event organizers who organize leisure events involving at least 150 people on a non-profit basis, the State Secretariat told MTI on Friday.
With the help of this year’s Adventure and Leisure Sports Program, the number of participants in more than 600 events organized nationwide could reach 500,000. The total value of the support is 900 million forints. The most popular sports are running, hiking and cycling, and the State Secretariat is also supporting an increasing number of para-adventure sports events, as well as fitness events.
In addition to running competitions, significant emphasis is placed on cycling events – including the Ring Series – and various water programs. New this year is the Water Ring, the first stop in the series is this Sunday’s Kilátó TourTúra, which “guides rowers to the wonderful world of Lake Tisza and is a great example of how closeness to nature can be combined with exercise” – the announcement reads.
The goal of the State Secretariat for Active Hungary is for all ages to find the right form of exercise for them and for as many people as possible to experience the joy of adventure sports – whether it’s running, cycling, water tours or hiking. The professional coordination of the program is carried out with the involvement of the National Association of Leisure Sports Event Organizers.
In 2025, 265 supported events have already taken place and almost 350 are still to come. All of these can be found in the Active Calendar – available at aktivmagyarorszag.hu/aktiv-eletmod/aktiv-naptar/.
