WHO: egg and meat prices decreased compared to last year
According to the data from the beginning of June, the price of eggs at the packaging site and the producer price of slaughter pigs and chickens decreased compared to the same period in 2023 – read the latest summaries of the Agricultural Economics Institute (AK).
Based on their data, in the period up to mid-June this year, table eggs from cages became cheaper by 19.3 percent, and deep-laid eggs by 16.9 percent, in an annual comparison, the average prices were HUF 51.83 and HUF 59.8 per piece.
The producer price of broiler chicken decreased by almost 18 percent to HUF 411 per kilogram by the beginning of June. Most of the prices of fresh chicken meat decreased by at least 5-10 percent compared to the beginning of June 2023.
The processing sales prices of slaughter turkeys and fresh turkey meat decreased at an even greater rate, exceeding 20 percent. The processing selling price of slaughter turkeys decreased to HUF 586.6 per kilogram on average by June.
