We can help those in need with as little as 250 forints – again a coupon donation drive in Tesco stores
For the 15th time, Tesco has joined the Ecumenical Aid Society’s Advent Fundraising. During the campaign, between November 18 and December 31, the chain’s customers can support the work of the Aid Society by purchasing 250-forint donation coupons at traditional and self-service checkouts. In addition to István “Kokó” Kovács, Olympic champion boxer and Goodwill Ambassador of the Ecumenical Aid Society, Olympic champion swimmer Dániel Gyurta and singer Kati Wolf also volunteered to support the campaign.
There are many families in the country who are also going through a period of deprivation during the festive season. They often have to give up not only festive meals, but also hot dinners and gifts for each other. The Ecumenical Aid Society’s Advent Fundraising aims to make the holidays more beautiful for them with food aid packages, hot meal distributions, firewood or Christmas children’s programs. In addition, their employees help those in difficult situations throughout the year in the social institutions of the Relief Organization and through opportunity-creating programs.
This year, Tesco is participating in the Ecumenical Relief Organization’s Advent campaign for the fifteenth time, within the framework of which the chain’s customers can contribute to supporting families and children in difficult situations by purchasing 250-forint donation coupons sold at traditional and self-service checkouts in nearly 200 Tesco stores between November 18 and December 31.
“At Tesco, we do more for our communities every day, so it is natural for us to support our fellow human beings in need with every possible means. We have been joining the Ecumenical Relief Organization’s national campaign for a decade and a half, and this time we are also encouraging our customers to help those in need with a few hundred forints if they can. With the power of collaboration, even a donation coupon, i.e. a contribution of 250 forints per person, can make a big difference. I am confident that as the largest fundraising team in the country, our colleagues and the people who visit our stores will once again contribute in large numbers to our partner giving a chance to the poorest,”
said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications and Campaigns at Tesco Global-Zrt.
