LG and Microsoft sign strategic agreement in AI field
LG has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft at CES 2025, showcasing its vision for everyday life infused with AI services.
LG Electronics (LG) has entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft, announced William Cho, LG’s president and CEO, at the LG World Premiere press conference at CES in Los Angeles. The partnership will see the partners combine LG’s product and customer expertise across sectors, including home, mobility and commerce, with Microsoft’s AI technology to lead the way in delivering empathetic, integrated AI services.
The two companies are working to advance “AI agents” across spaces, including homes, vehicles, hotels and offices. LG is already using Microsoft’s voice recognition and speech synthesis technologies for its self-driving AI Home Hub. These technologies enable the smart home hub to understand different accents, pronunciations and colloquial expressions. The plan also includes developing AI agents that not only understand and interact with customers, but also can predict their needs and preferences.
At CES 2025, the parties also announced that they will collaborate in the rapidly growing AI data center market in the future. The partnership aims to increase energy efficiency at critical points in AI infrastructure through LG’s thermal management systems and advanced cooling technologies optimized for AI data centers. The partners plan to create more efficient and sustainable next-generation data centers through the partnership.
