AI, security, experience: this is how we choose our travel destinations today
Today, it is no longer enough to know where we are going – why and how we decide on a destination is also an increasingly important question. The latest episode of NAPICSÁRT on the Pénzcentrum YouTube channel explores how our travel decisions are shaped by personal needs, security considerations and artificial intelligence – while souvenir hunting is increasingly being replaced by tailor-made experiences.
Safety first
According to recent research, safety has now become the most important condition for travel: more than 80% of tourists will only set off if they consider the given country or city to be reliable. Prices and promotions are taking a back seat on the list – decisions are much more determined by infrastructure, transport, the health situation or public safety. Choosing a destination is therefore no longer a desire-driven impulse, but often the result of a conscious compromise.
Experiences instead of objects
Expenditures are also shifting elsewhere: instead of classic gifts and souvenirs, more and more people are spending on experiences. The most popular travel motivations now include concerts, festivals, sporting events or casino visits – while sightseeing or wellness are slowly taking a back seat. Travel has thus become much more of a personal experience project than a tourist package.
We are no longer the ones (only) deciding
While tourists’ needs are becoming more and more unique, their decisions increasingly come from automated sources: every fourth travel decision is now influenced by an AI-based recommendation. Artificial intelligence not only recommends, but often organizes the entire trip: from route planning to accommodation booking to daily programs. Instead of influencers, AI-generated characters now “recommend” places for us – the question is, are we really still making the decisions?
If you’re traveling, watch NAPICSÁRT first
The current episode of NAPICSÁRT sheds light on these trends, with fresh numbers and thought-provoking questions. The series aims to help you see how the world around us is changing – and how we are changing in it. The show is available on the Pénzcentrum YouTube channel, where new episodes are released on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So before you book your next trip, it’s worth checking it out. You might want to go somewhere else.
