Albert Heijn launches AI assistant
Albert Heijn is launching a personal assistant in its app that uses generative AI. ‘My AH Assistant’ inspires customers with recipes, product suggestions and practical tips for cooking or storing dishes.
‘My AH Assistant’ is a chatbot that answers questions related to food and cooking. This makes Albert Heijn the first Dutch supermarket chain to integrate GenAI into its app-based service. The assistant is new and does not know everything yet, but it Iearns quickly and is getting smarter, says the retailer. GenAI is also translating the My AH app into English to meet the needs of international users. Other languages will follow in the near future.
Another GenAI-powered functionality is Scan & Cook, which allows customers to receive recipes based on a photo of ingredients. This has been further optimised and fully integrated into the app after testing with customers, for even easier use when shopping and cooking.
4,5 million users
‘The introduction of My AH Assistant is an important step from our mission ‘Making better food accessible together. For Everyone‘,’ said Marit van Egmond CEO at Albert Heijn. ‘With generative AI, we are able to develop applications that provide our customers with more convenience and inspiration in their daily routines.’
From Monday 11 November, My AH assistant will be available to customers in the My AH app, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary and already has more than 4.5 million active users.
