Rohlik Group Offers Grocers Its AI-Driven Platform
Online grocery retailer Rohlik Group has launched a standalone company to offer its proprietary AI-powered grocery fulfilment platform to retailers around the world.
Veloq was developed in-house to support Rohlik’s expansion from its home base in the Czech Republic into new territories.
Its technology has powered Rohlik’s 37% year-on-year growth across five markets, enabling the group to deliver more than 1.3 million monthly orders and generate €1.1 billion in annual revenue, ESM reports.
Rohlik has appointed former Ocado chief commercial officer Richard McKenzie as Veloq’s chief executive.
“In a market reshaped by consumer expectations for convenience, personalisation, and sustainability, Veloq’s launch marks a turning point – from fragmented software to unified, intelligent orchestration,” he said.
McKenzie is confident that Veloq is ready to tackle whatever challenges other markets may offer.
“While Veloq was developed inside Rohlik’s operations and proven in lower-wage markets like the Czech Republic and Hungary, it’s also delivered success in more mature, competitive environments,” he said.
“Take Germany, for example, through Rohlik’s online brand Knuspr, the platform has demonstrated it can scale in high-cost, highly demanding markets while maintaining profitability and service excellence. Knuspr is achieving market-leading NPS scores [net promoter scores, which are used to gauge customer loyalty and satisfaction] in Germany based on our platform.”
Veloq promises to enable grocers to achieve same-day, full-basket delivery.
McKenzie said its modular architecture is very flexible, which enables it to adapt to a wide range of consumer behaviours, infrastructure constraints, and product mixes.
“From urban delivery density and tight delivery windows to handling local products and different delivery vehicles, the platform is designed to meet the demands of advanced grocery markets like the UK,” he said.
“If we can deliver speed, scale, and margin in Germany, we’re confident we can do the same in other competitive markets like the UK, France, Italy, Benelux and beyond.”
Rohlik is active in the Czech Republic (Rohlik.cz), Hungary (Kifli.hu), Austria (Gurkerl.at), Germany (Knuspr.de), and Romania (Sezamo.ro), and is growing rapidly.
