LG Electronics (LG) announced LG CLOiD™, an AI-powered home robot that will be first introduced to the public at CES 2026. The robot is designed to work with connected home appliances to perform and coordinate household tasks, reducing the time and physical effort required for everyday chores. The system is LG’s latest development in AI-powered home robotics and smart home platforms, building on the company’s Self-Driving AI Home Hub (LG Q9) and ThinQ ecosystem.

Home Automation in Real-World Home Situations

At CES 2026, LG will demonstrate LG CLOiD in action in a variety of home environments. In one scenario, the robot takes milk from the refrigerator and puts a croissant in the oven to prepare breakfast. After the residents leave home, LG CLOiD starts the laundry, then folds and stacks the clothes after drying. These tasks demonstrate LG CLOiD’s ability to understand the user’s lifestyle and precisely control household appliances.

Hardware designed for living spaces

LG CLOiD consists of a head unit, a torso with two articulated arms, and a wheeled base capable of autonomous navigation. The torso can be tilted to adjust its height, allowing the robot to pick up objects at knee height and above.

Each arm has seven degrees of freedom, which is equivalent to the dexterity of a human arm. The shoulder, elbow and wrist allow for forward, backward, rotational and lateral movements, while each hand has five independently operated fingers for fine motor movements. This design allows the robot to handle a wide range of household items, from the kitchen to the laundry room to the living room.

The wheeled base uses autonomous driving technology, which is based on LG’s experience in robot vacuums and solutions from the LG Q9. This shape was chosen for stability, safety and cost-effectiveness: the low center of gravity reduces the risk of tipping over even if a child or pet touches the robot.

LG CLOiD’s “Head” as a Mobile AI Home Hub

The head unit acts as a mobile AI Home Hub. The unit is equipped with a chipset that acts as the “brain” of LG CLOiD, as well as a display, speaker, camera, various sensors, and voice-based generative AI. Together, these enable the robot to communicate with people through speech and “facial expressions,” learn the characteristics of the living environment and users’ habits, and control connected home appliances based on what it learns.
